Bushra Jafri began her journey as an interior designer in 2016, transitioning from her formal training as a dentist. With a keen eye for detail and a lifelong passion for interior design, she quickly established herself in the industry. Her South Asian roots give her a distinctive ability to mix prints and colors in a way that's uniquely hers.
Working alongside renowned designers, Bushra gained hands-on experience and honed her craft. In 2018, she launched her own firm, Bushra Jafri Design, after building a strong client base through her exceptional work.
The only design rules she follows are her own:
- Buy what you love and make it work.
- Surround yourself with colors you love to wear—ones that bring you joy.
- Embrace slow design, curating meaningful pieces over time that carry beautiful stories. There's nothing quite like it.
- Blend the timeless appeal of older pieces with the modernity and sleekness of contemporary design, always adding an unexpected element that sparks inspiration and captivates the senses.
The pieces in her projects come from an eclectic mix of sources—renowned artists, edgy modern pieces, street vendors, eBay, auctions, estate sales, and antique shops. Bushra believes that store-bought items can often feel predictable, and every home should showcase the juxtaposition of old and new to maintain an intriguing balance. She only selects pieces that she truly falls in love with, regardless of their provenance. This approach keeps her designs personal, authentic, and entirely her own.
